The ion pump equiped with our UHV system is 300T from GammaVacuum. It also combined with Titanium Sublimation (TSP) and heaters for baking. The heaters and the filaments of TSP may be burned out at a wrong operating condition. In the following, we just describe the replacment of TSP filament for IGP.

  • The TSP filaments were assembled with a CF35 feedthrough which was marked by the red arrow in the figure. There are three filaments connected on the CF35 feedthrough and the filaments states were indicated on the MPC controll pannel. If you find the “+” symbol on the screen, it tells that the corresponding filament was broken. Note: Sometimes, when you find the “+” symbol on the screen for the first time, trying to clear the filament history, and you will see something amazing.

  • For replacing the filaments, you nend to vent the ion pump and remove the CF35 feedthrough, then replacing the broken filaments by the new one.(It is a easy job, right?)

  • Usually, the retired filament was not completely damaged but just bended.

  • After you finished the replacement and pumped already, don’t forget to clear the old filament status, or you will not see the new filament status.
